Embracing the theme of G20, Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam “One Earth, One Family, One Future”, Soundarya Central School hosted the much-awaited Annual Sports Day on 23 Dec 2023. It was an exciting event that brought together athletes, spectators and the community to celebrate physical prowess and teamwork.
The guest of Honour was Ms Manju Rani, an Indian race walker, 35 Km race walk, Asian Games Medalist. The Chief guest of the event was Mr. M G Balakrishna, Vice-President of the Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI).In the presence of honourable Chairman Sri Soundarya P Manjappa, Managing Director Smt. Sunitha Manjappa, CEO Mr. Keerthan Kumar, Managing Trustee Dr. Preteeksha Keerthan Kumar, Mr. Varun Kumar and Principal Mrs Renuka Devi, the event took off with unfurling the flag followed by march-past.Dr Prateeksha Keerthan Kumar administered the pledge, Mr Varun Kumar spoke about the importance of a curious mind in a sound body. Principal Addressed the gathering and appreciated the relentless efforts of teachers.The chief guest laid emphasis on the value of sportsmanship.
Achievers of the academic year 2023 were awarded and the Sports Day began with a relay race.
The venue was a spectacle to behold, adorned with G20 posters, and banners with an astounding backdrop of models of the Red Fort, the Eiffel Tower, the Lotus House, the Egypt Pyramid and the Great Wall of China. The students performed Bharatnatyam, yoga, taekwondo, gymnastics and various traditional dances representing G20 countries. The morning air was filled with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere.
The event continuously laid the emphasis of sports in a child’s physical and mental development. It was a day filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.
